How to convert volume units

Volume conversions are based on the liter: multiply by the ratio of the two units. One US gallon is 3.785411784 liters and one US cup is 236.588 milliliters. Watch the gallon - the US gallon and the imperial (UK) gallon of 4.54609 L are different sizes, so this tool labels every US unit explicitly.

Worked example

To convert 2 liters to US cups, divide by 0.2365882365: 2 ÷ 0.2365882365 = 8.45 cups. One US gallon is 3.785411784 L, and 500 mL is 500 ÷ 29.5735 = 16.91 fl oz.
